You looked in the kitchen, where your father, Canada, was sitting at the table, working.

"…Papa?"

He jumped a bit in his seat, startled. "O-Oh, it's just you, (f/n). Y-You should b-be in bed by now."

"I know, but I can't sleep.  I was wondering if… you would sing to me."

Canada looked taken aback, but nodded. "O-Okay."

He walked over to you, holding out his hand. You grabbed it and started walking towards your room at the end of the hall. You crawled up into your bed and Canada wrapped the blankets tightly around you.

Canada paused. "W-What would you like me to sing?"

"… You remember 'Farewell to Nova Scotia', right, Papa?"

Canada smiled softly.  "Of course I do." He cleared his throat quietly.

"The sun was setting in the west,
The birds were singing on every tree.
All nature seemed inclined to rest
But still there was no rest for me.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be.
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

I grieve to leave my native land,
I grieve to leave my comrades all,
And my parents whom I love so dear,
And the bonnie, bonnie lassie that I do adore.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be.
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

The drums they do beat and the wars they alarm,
The captain calls, and I must obey.
So farewell, farewell to Nova Scotia's charms,
For it's early in the morning and I'm far, far away."

You had already fallen asleep again, but he decided to finish the song anyway.

"Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be.
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

I have three brothers and they are at rest,
Their hands are folded on their breast.
But a poor simple sailor just like me,
Must be tossed and driven on the dark blue sea.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be.
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?"

Canada stood up and smiled.

"Goodnight, sweetheart."

Here's the Canada version of 'Lullabies' for :iconotakuyuki3:! Sorry that this one's a bit short. The next one will be longer, I swear!

No translations for this one.

Hetalia is not mine.
Neither is Canada.
I don't own you.
But I DO own the story.
